About

A modern-day sleep school, but for parents.

Sleepnatal is a focused perinatal sleep health service supporting family wellbeing through empowerment and evidence-based care.

I'm Dr Sumedha Verma – founder of Sleepnatal.

Parents don't get the support they need to manage their own sleep health.

These impacts can last lifelong and extend to the whole family.

This needs to change. And I am driven to change this.

MISSION

Shift the Narrative

Recognise and prioritise parental sleep health as foundational for whole family wellbeing

Reframe societal expectations of parents to 'put up with' poor sleep

As a clinician and academic, I've engaged with:

Royal Women's Hospital
Stanford University
Alfred
University of Sydney
International Association for Women's Mental Health
Dementia Australia
Austin Health
InsideOut Institute for Eating Disorders
HammondCare
Eating Disorders Victoria
Aged Care Research & Industry Innovation Australia
Sydney Local Health District

I undertook my PhD in Clinical Psychology leading a world-first study helping new parents recover from insomnia.

I then completed postdoctoral fellowships supporting families, caregivers and large systems. Currently, I am an adjunct research fellow at Monash University where I teach psychology students.

My work is based on a deep understanding of how our environments shape us.

I am inspired to create services that help families sleep, connect and heal in ways that work for them.
